Compounding Pharmacy Disclosure

Phoenix Peptide Labs | Important Regulatory Notice

Overview

This disclosure is provided to clearly communicate the relationship — and the critical distinction — between research-grade peptides sold by Phoenix Peptide Labs and compounded pharmaceutical peptides prepared by licensed compounding pharmacies. Buyers, clinicians, and researchers are strongly encouraged to read and understand this page before placing an order.

What Phoenix Peptide Labs Is

Phoenix Peptide Labs is a supplier of research-grade, Research Use Only (RUO) peptide materials. Our products are:

  • Intended exclusively for in vitro laboratory and scientific research
  • Not manufactured in an FDA-registered pharmaceutical facility
  • Not compounded drug products under any state or federal pharmacy law
  • Not dispensed pursuant to a prescription
  • Not intended for human or animal therapeutic use of any kind

We are not a compounding pharmacy, not a 503A pharmacy, and not a 503B outsourcing facility.

The Regulatory Distinction

Understanding the difference between RUO research peptides and compounded pharmaceutical peptides is critical for legal compliance:

FDA Compounding Framework

Under U.S. law, pharmaceutical compounding of peptides is governed by two distinct pathways under the Federal Food, Drug & Cosmetic Act (FD&C Act):

Section 503A — Traditional Compounding Pharmacies

  • Compound medications for individual identified patients based on a valid prescription
  • Performed by a licensed pharmacist or physician
  • Exempt from certain FDA approval requirements, but must comply with applicable state pharmacy board regulations
  • Cannot use bulk drug substances labeled “Research Use Only,” “For Lab Use Only,” or “Not for Human Use”

Section 503B — Outsourcing Facilities

  • Registered with the FDA and subject to Current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) standards
  • May distribute compounded sterile products without individual prescriptions to hospitals and clinics
  • Subject to FDA inspection and significantly stricter oversight than 503A facilities

Peptide Category Classifications

The FDA has established a classification system for bulk drug substances used in compounding. This directly impacts the legal availability of certain peptides:

  • Category 1 Peptides — Approved for use by licensed 503A compounding pharmacies under physician prescription and USP <795>/<797> compliance standards. As of early 2026, approximately 14 peptides including BPC-157, TB-500, CJC-1295, and Ipamorelin have shifted to Category 1.
  • Category 2 Peptides — Identified by the FDA as presenting potential significant safety risks. Compounding under 503A or 503B is prohibited for these substances.

⚠️ Important: A peptide’s Category 1 status permits compounding only by licensed pharmacies under prescription. It does not authorize the purchase or use of RUO-labeled research peptides for human therapeutic purposes under any circumstances.

Why This Matters to Buyers

The FDA actively monitors the marketing and sale of research peptides and has issued Warning Letters to companies that market RUO peptides with implied or explicit human-use intent. Key points for buyers:

  • Purchasing RUO peptides from Phoenix Peptide Labs for personal therapeutic use is illegal and potentially dangerous
  • The “Research Use Only” label is not a loophole that permits human consumption
  • Vendors are legally prohibited from selling RUO peptides to buyers they know intend to use them therapeutically
  • States are increasingly enforcing restrictions on grey-market peptide use in medical and wellness settings

If You Are a Clinician or Medical Professional

If you are a licensed healthcare provider seeking peptides for patient treatment, Phoenix Peptide Labs cannot supply products for that purpose. You should work with:

  • A licensed 503A compounding pharmacy for individually prescribed compounded medications
  • A 503B outsourcing facility for clinic-level bulk compounded sterile preparations
  • Your state board of pharmacy for guidance on compliant sourcing in your jurisdiction

No Affiliation With Compounding Pharmacies

Phoenix Peptide Labs has no affiliation, partnership, or referral relationship with any compounding pharmacy, outsourcing facility, or licensed healthcare provider. We do not recommend, endorse, or facilitate the procurement of compounded pharmaceutical products.
